About us

This is how Deafnalised started. Hi, my name is Sadia. I am a CODA — a child of deaf adults. I grew up with deaf family members, and I grew up seeing the neglect, the judgement, the “it doesn’t matter” comments, the miscommunication, the lack of understanding, the endless barriers, and the disrespect. Watching deaf people be dismissed made me angry, because I knew the truth. My father and my auntie are incredibly talented, with skills many hearing people don’t have. Deaf people can do everything a hearing person can… except hear. Deaf people don’t need sympathy. They need understanding. Deaf people are proud, and their culture deserves to be seen. That’s why we started Deafnalised — for the deaf community. There are two of us in this journey that truly understand the deaf culture and community: me, hearing, and my auntie, who is deaf. Deaf culture deserves visibility. Our designs help spread awareness and are made for everyone to wear with pride. Join us.
